The Vat Phou Fund for the Safeguarding of Champasak Heritage was established by UNESCO in 1999 to raise funds to protect and manage the archaeological heritage and living cultural landscape of the Champasak Plain Lao PDR. The Vat Phou Fund supports the efforts of the people and Government of the Lao PDR in preserving this universally significant heritage site by providing the funds necessary to implement the Champasak Heritage Management Plan. The Vat Phou Fund is seeking contributions from individual and corporate donors in order to help protect this site, which has been nominated for inscription on UNESCO's World Heritage List as Vat Phou and Associated Ancient Settlements within the Champasak Cultural Landscape. The Vat Phou Fund will finance small-scale projects with large local impact. As most projects will cost less than US$10,000, even a small contribution will help ensure that this ancient part of the world's heritage will be preserved for future generations. |
